On this tour, you will explore the monumental Roman structures of ancient Athens, walking through Plaka, the city's oldest, iconic, most picturesque quarter, located just below the famous hill of the Acropolis. This tour will focus on the Roman presence in Athens and on the new constructions introduced in the age of Augustus when the city experienced a new building boom, followed by the ravishing Greek renaissance established by the emperor Hadrian in the first decades of the 2d century CE.

The Roman Agora, the spectacular entrance of Hadrian's Library, Hadrian's Arch, and the colossal Temple of Olympian Zeus are still standing at the very heart of ancient Athens to remind us of the Roman imperial propaganda and its great benefactors.
